I remember partly disagreeing with Khalling recently on whether Elon Musk was a crony of the worst kind. Musk is definitely a crony, particularly with regard to Tesla. However, his work with SpaceX is effectively transitioning rocket launches from a government operation to a private one. Launch Pad 39 will be for SpaceX launches from now on. After this weekend, NASA Kennedy Space Center visitors will no longer be able to buy a ticket upgrade to get up close to Launch Pad 39.
