"Bush doubled-down Tuesday on his assertions that there is "no evidence" the data collection violated civil liberties. "I've found not one" case, he said."

Uh, have you read the Fourth Amendment lately?

Data collection is evidence - especially when the purpose is to be used to detect criminal activity. Under the very clear wording in the Fourth Amendment, that requires a Warrant specifically citing the place to be searched and the person or evidence to be seized.

Jen seems to be looking through rose colored glass. Here in the real world, we see abuses. We've seen the IRS used against ordinary citizens as a means of political expediency; and it has been used with impunity. Why on earth would anyone believe tha the same won't happen (and who's to say that it isn't happening already?) with these super-secret cops?
