If the young people at the time of that quote had never seen true Capitalism think of how shielded todays youth have been. They haven't seen or learned about it.

She's saying most people today haven't seen hardcore capitalism and would find it hard to believe its benefits.

On the other side of the coin, people who haven't experienced hardcore communism would find it hard to believe how bad it is.
