Rand Paul and Objectivism

Thanks to Scott et al. for bringing Rand Paul to the Gulch. I don't agree with Senator Paul on everything, but I probably agree more with him than any of the other declared candidates. I am sure that many of us have their areas of disagreement with Senator Paul.

I am curious to hear the Gulch's take on Senator Paul. His recent emphasis on defunding Planned Parenthood could be evaluated as taking on cronyism, or pushing a religious agenda, or both.

We also had a fascinating discussion recently regarding consistency with Objectivism, ideological purity vs. pragmatism, and spreading of Objectivist ideals. One of several reasons for my prior post is that I think that the election of Rand Paul is the fastest way to spread Objectivist ideals. If Rand Paul were to be elected president, there might be a chance that America could be a tolerable place in which to produce again.

Please evaluate Senator Paul as objectively as possible.

My biggest objection to him as a candidate is that he is a Senator and has no executive experience. In my opinion sitting or former governors have better executive experience. This negative applies to the other senatorial or house candidates as well.

Likewise, my biggest objection to Rand Paul as POTUS is his lack of experience as an executive. There are several governors with the appropriate experience, but I don't really agree with as much of what they want to accomplish.
