One can't take just the analysis that proves a desired point; one also has to analyze the analyses, and this is what is done nicely in the article.
Another sector to be considered is the defense of murder rate. Murders are all classes together in Britain; the rate is not broken down, as Dr. Locke did, into murder, suicide, justified use of force, and the other categories.
Adding all the statistics together gives you something like stew mixed with cole slaw - an unpalatable - and totally useless - mess.
