Without shame, A phase of Civilization, can we now move toward the future?

This is a phase of civilization, it is necessary so we can learn and Yes, it's taken an ugly turn. The people that have the solutions are often persecuted by those of an anti civilization, those of a city as the solution which only makes things worse. Cities are no longer necessary, they do not protect, they have outlived their once useful nature. As stated above, this is a stage, a level, a journey that should bring us all to new realizations, solutions and decisions as to where we ultimately want to go; we must have this discussion, without prejudice, without fear and without ideological nonsense. We won't get there thru chastisement nor finger pointing and shame. Just like everything else, we need truth, accurate history, a healthy view of the present and a vision of the future we want. No need to worry about resources...the universe is endless and the ether has all the knowledge we need to attain that vision of the future. A future that will not be stagnate, painful or regressive. It's not about less or more; it's about what ever you want...without blame or faux shame.

I only watched about a minute. But if people don't like living in the city and they feel like they're not doing enough with their families, it's fortunate we live in a time when we do not have to live in cities, watch excessive TV, etc. I like living in the city, but we have the technology to telecommute or do whatever we want.

While it is good to step back and question the fundamentals, the anti-urban, anti-material framework ultimately fails. In fact, the video montage presents the very positives that he claims are lacking in companionship, loving, and enjoying the world away from the television set.

We could abandon the cities right now, spread ourselves nicely a mile or ten apart, and just communicate with these computers. Then, the next Alan Watts would identify the problems with that. You cannot have it both ways: either we live close enough to touch each other, or we do not.

More to the point, he says nothing about individual creativity, personal insights, egoistic pleasures in discovery and invention.

I did not vote it down for being spam, but it does fail to inspire.

And that was my point, It fails to inspire, it covertly points a finger when it's obvious that this is just a stage to evolve from; taking the positives and building from there.
