A Show Of Hands: Is There Anyone Who Didn't See This Coming?

Now...is there anyone here who doesn't believe, nay, KNOW that the state will have to step in and take over, just until markets can stabilize and public confidence can be restored?

How can one not be a cynic?

Indeed, the architects of Obamacare described exactly this plan to their supporters before it was enacted.

Of course the main way it is destroying the insurance companies is the rule that companies may not discriminate against pre-existing conditions -- which will be the hardest part to repeal.

Clearly the NYT has it wrong... Our Dear Leader, The One, Barack Hussein Obama (mmm, mmm, mmm) TOLD US that we could (1) keep our doctor if we liked him/her, (2) keep our insurance policy if we liked it, and (3) expect to see our premiums DECREASE by $2400 per year as a result of his merciful program.

You gotta love O, he originally said families would save around $2500 a year. Prices were higher to start and now they are going up by double digits. What does he say? Well, the increases should be less than they are asking. Talk about flexible and Lie, Lie, Lie. I don't see how he is still in office. The republicans are a bunch of wusses, scared of their own shadow. If this were a Republican President who did all of this, he would have been impeached 6 years ago.

There can be no successful impeachment without a 2/3 majority in the Senate, because the Senators will vote their politics rather than vote honestly. The Clinton impeachment demonstrated this.

But he can and should be prosecuted once we have a Republican attorney general.

All part of the plan. Thy couldn't get to single payer in one step so a few million dislocated, lost coverage and bankrupted is a small price to pay from their socialist dream.

So sad that it was also so predictable. A total bait and switch or setup to require MORE government manipulation to solve the problem caused by government force in the first place. Problem - reaction - solution. Straight out of the statist playbook.

We DO speak out on social media but face it, we are preaching to the choir (like-minded people). Low info citizens (those who only get their news from MSM) haven't a clue what's really happening. So the real question is: How can we take over the MSM, eh Koch brothers? It takes money ... we need more "Murdochs" to buy CBS, NBC, ABC, NYT, WP ... the major outlets.

Within weeks after Washington state employees were coerced to become full members of the union (it was voluntary, before that), thanks to our Liberal Governor, the union proposed to remove the dues cap that was in place. Gee...what an original idea.

Well, the union dropped the proposal, almost immediately. I'm guessing they received a little feedback, from their new members, that gave them pause.

And it will keep growing until every last drop is milked out of a compliant citizenry. The hook is that people don't want to die, and they'll grab onto any promise and any scheme, and they'll embrace the delusion that someone else should pay.

It would be interesting to calculate how much of the premiums paid actually makes it to the medical treatment level, and how much is diverted to administration, bureaucracy, construction of office buildings, commercial promotion, the limitless league of lawyers, and feeding the entire infrastructure that has grown like weeds and leeches between a patient's money and the actual care received. We have a tourniquet around our necks and around our bank accounts.

One didn't have to be a Nostradamus to predict big rate increases. Just add the letters "un" for the Unaffordable Care Act. And, if you don't think that having the Gov. step to create the single payer system was the plan all along you are naïve beyond redemption. Well.. you can be redeemed, just pay attention to me and other Gulchers. I have been told that I should have PhD after my name, but instead I choose to use, W.F.P. World's Foremost Authority.

Nothing new here it's been ongoing for decades. Rates and rate adjustments are based on three items. Average cost of a procedure in a given area. Average cost of a procedure by all medical providers. Total bill by the individual medical provider. Applications. To pay for the mandatory pro bono treatments the cost is passed on to the insurance of those who have it. The local state insurance commissioner uses a state approved formula to translate those costs into what will become insurance rates. It may be an obama approved formula these days. Insurance 101 1988 or before you ask for 3x to get a 1x increase and try to match inflation and liability insurance rates.

But the States have for some several decades been doing this - with changes caused by Obama Care if any.

The whole thing drives Medicare rates which are also factored in.

The only thing new is Obama care.

Second. the states or THE STATE stepping in is the same argument used to begin the run up to 18 trillion dollar debt. BOHICA! Already?

This was not hard to see coming. And, the insurance companies were onboard early on, now they ask for rate increases. The whole thing had to have the complicity of the very insurance companies now with their hands out for more.

Yes, duh. Part of the plan for total government control.
