What are your plans for the 1st 4th of July in the USSA?

This is the 1st 4th of July in the Union of Socialist States of America. How will you be marking the occasion? I will be practicing some blues guitar all weekend, and trying to stay cool. There will be no fireworks due to a Red Flag warning and the ban that has been in place for the last few days.

Helped my daughter with her show calf, got on tractor an brush hogged for about 4 hours, grilled awesome farm raised ribeye steak and prongs, helped wife with dishes, then started shooting off fireworks with my 7 year old daughter. Life in my Gulch is priceless.

Considering I am in England, (I am American). I got out my trumpet and played Star Spangled Banner, Marine Corps Hymn, Call to Assemble, and a couple other songs. JUST to annoy the neighbors :) Someone had fireworks down the way. Other than that I spent my day in the veggie patch, weeding and planing things!

I just want to say I've been using the term USSA for many years! I used to say it as a joke, but it's honestly what is happening.

What is there to celebrate? The fact that we are less free than when the Declaration of Independence was written? The fact that what used to be the Constitution is now just a museum display? The fact that we now have one of the most deceitful government in the world? And rapidly advancing to being one of the most oppressive government in the civilized world? The fact that we "elect" a government that takes pride in destroying every shred of decency still left in the country? I do not wish to hypocritically wave an empty flag, march to the Party orders and clap like seal.

As always honoring the Constitution soon may it return. There is no celebration in this area so we do it on our own but without the three day weekend, the big sales or overtime.

I live where I get a good view of the Las Vegas valley. On July 4 I saw a lot of fireworks , but it was interesting to see them primarily in the backyards of the poorer sections- mostly inhabited by Hispanics. (Probably a lot of them illegal aliens). It's basically against the law here to set off fireworks, yet people generally disregard that law. It crossed my mind that on this day it seemed to be that it's the immigrants who are celebrating being in this country more than the people born here

Didn't you get the memo??!! They declared today (yesterday, now) a non-holiday, and moved it ahead a month to August 4th, which we are supposed to celebrate with revolutionary awareness and respect of Dear Leader, with parades marching in the street, sayings by such inspirational people to his Preeminnce as Huey Newton, Al Sharpton, et al, and erecting statues of Dear Leader (with invocations given by common-core educated grade school children), all the while assuming the guilt they have determined is right and proper for we the people to experience...

By act of executive order, they will heretofore call it "Dependence Day"...

I went and visited my son's new house. The flag was waving and all thing patriotic were festooned except for our conversation on the deterioration of the USA. He bought a rambling ranch style house which is home to him and his wife, two dogs, and a mother-in-law. His kids (my grand kids) are all adults now and his grandkids (my greatgrand kids) are all in Texas, So, no excursion for fireworks this year. That's OK. Saw them on TV when I got home.

I got a very nice note from a French JV board member I also sit on. He sent a picture of L'Hermione in New York Harbor, sailing next to a Arliegh Burke Class Destroyer. L'Hermione brought La Fayette to the US, and a note that "...our nations have been close for centuries, but also during difficult times." Very nice note, and pictures.

I thanked him and wished him well on Quatroze de Juliette. French Independence Day, Bastille Day, comes just ten days after the US.

I noticed that the popping of neighborhood fireworks can last longer through a Fourth of July Saturday night. I was wondering if fireworks would remain affordable within the decade or even by next year. Or maybe the nanny state will proclaim all fireworks as unsafe or the PC police will say we have no right to celebrate taking land from Indians or any awful war the signing any document could lead to.

I love your crystal-clear observation of the current state of things...I couldn't agree more with you.

The family and I are still getting settled in the new digs and are going to relax (doing that now) and press on as if it is another day. I had my Big Muddy Monster yesterday and am not having any R3COH for the remainder of the weekend.

R3COH, hmmmmm.....Took me a while to get back to chemistry, it's been a long long time, but alcohol seems to be the issue. The wife and I sat on the deck and had a long conversation with one of my friends, Jack Daniels. Quite a guy, sort of a quiet type but he seems to help move the topics along.

Happy 4th and the best in 2015.

Hubby and I are doing our favorite stuff, which is top golf with mimosas followed by TX BBQ (the real stuff...) and margaritas. I've also been meaning to watch AS III again to see if I can spot K and D's daughter in the movie--I think I heard she was in it.

That reminds me - One individual asked another what type of coffee he preferred. Cafe Greco and you?

      Cafe Turkos

      There is a difference?

      Certainly one is spelled T U R K O S and the other isn't.

A year later and near half way around the world?

What kind of Barbecue do you like?

Texas and South West and your?

      Southern?

      There is a difference?

Certainly one is burned and the other one isn't.

      Very dry humor.

C'mon, Pirate, we are only in Purgatory, not Hell (yet.)

I am making financiers and long island ice tea. Picking fresh veggies from the garden to go with the hickory smoked (overpriced) ribeye.

Looks like the rain will keep me inside most of the day though, so I will likely be working on some programming, too.

(At least I can sell it to wealthy Asians, right?)

What's with the double spacing that is occuring on posting here?
