Need to feel connected to like-minded individuals. I have lots of liberal friends. They are dear, lovely wonderful people as individuals, but they are awash in the liberal philosophy. It's all emotion with them. When it comes to social or political discourse, all they can do is spout liberal talking points.
Somes I just need an oasis where I can exchange thoughts with thinking, rational people.

I have found myself shedding those who cause my head to explode from their irrational blather. When all their arguments contain is vitriol, without any basis in fact, I cannot continue to avail myself of their company. It's in my rational self interest to cut bait, so to speak. I do think you will find rational discourse here.

I find it interesting that you can describe liberals as "dear, wonderful, lovely people" and friends, and then look for rationality. Sounds kinda contradictory to me.
