This article explains why things are the way they are in the crony business dealings we have been witnessing. Should any of what the author says brings doubt: then do some homework to verify if what he claims is untrue. The question is, is there anything any of us can do about it?

To a degree this is about competition. Businesses want to grow and every day every customer tells them the same thing: "I want it cheaper". So they search for ways of doing it cheaper and faster.

There is the issue of predatory labor practices, but many times these overseas factories are heavily automated and they are moving because business can be done faster in those environments.

Protectionism is designed to allow you to ignore market reality and acts as a tax on the consumer. If you want to protect your local workforce, then you need a regulatory system and infrastructure designed to help business.

If, on the other hand, you have lots of taxes on business and are pricing electricity out of range, expect business to move.

Good comments. I'm sure you've heard of the work-around regarding the regulatory labor practices: the use of private-prison inmate labor at slave labor wages. See my next post on this subject.
