    If what I have heard is true, the real danger is in the provisions in this that have less to do with open markets and everything to do with transfer of power from sovereign states to international corporations. Under this agreement Companies can sue governments that place stipulations against their products. imo, local governments should be able to represent their people and protect their local interests. If this suppresses trade, then the market will deal with it over time. (Granted that does nothing to prevent corruption of local "public servants" ) This agreement does more to centralize power and suppress individual liberty than it does to open trade. It is the wrong solution.

    To support that this is true look at the restrictions placed on modification of the bill in the congress as quoted in this article. The representatives oif the people of the US aren't getting a chance to make amendments of any kind per this article. This transfers and concentrates power away from the people and to the looters;
    "Under fast-track authority, there is no provision for Congress to modify the agreement by submitting amendments. Fast-track authority also treats the FTA as if it were trade legislation being negotiated by the executive branch, not as a treaty that would require a two-thirds vote from the Senate."
