Has anyone else read The Mysterious Valley by Maurice Champagne

While I was on hiatus I read Ayn Rand's favorite childhood book, The Mysterious Valley, and wondered if anyone else in the gulch has read it. I'm attaching photos of an introduction written by Harry Bingswanger who quotes Ayn Rand's recollections of reading The Mysterious Valley and what it was like to be introduced to a heroic character and how it forever affected her.
Enjoy :) (I wonder why this has never been made into a movie.)

I haven't, LetsShrug. Do you recommend it on its own? I understand reading it would give insight into Rand, but is it an enjoyable read?

  I enjoyed it :)... It's old school and translated from French, it would never be written today because it's got some semi graphic violence, but what better way to teach a child when it's time to take a stand, to have a right and wrong belief system. I guess I'm surprised that it was just as hard to find a hero back then as it is now. Ayn Rand found an example of one, thanks to her Mother's determination, which is a whole other interesting story.

    I noticed that her mother ordered boy's books for her daughter. That shows that her mother paid attention to her child and wanted to nurture her interest. I would like to know about that "whole other interesting story". Is there somewhere I could read about it?
    Thanks for the info about The Mysterious Valley. I am intrigued, and I plan to read it.

      I've picked up bits and pieces of their mother/daughter relationship from different places. The book Ayn Rands Journals was one if them I think and there's a video on Netflix, can't remember the name, The Prophecy of Ayn Rand or maybe or perhaps a different one. My memory is not very good. :( I'll look into it later and see if I can figure it out. BUT their relationship was not a close one.

  Sharon Gless sounds familiar... I know who Sharon Gless is what I mean is I'm thinking I saw that already. If it's the one that talks about her sister coming to visit in America years later (the sister she was close to growing up) and she hated America and thought Communism was best, then I've seen it. Let me know.. oh...ooops! spoiler alert.
