If our Dear Leader does this, he is unquestionably a Dictator

I'd certainly like to hear from a Constitutional scholar as to whether the second amendment can be infringed to this degree.

I am starting to see a comparison between Obama and Andrew Johnson. Lincoln chose Johnson, a southern Democrat, as his VP to show his pledge to unify the country was sincere. The Republicans won huge majorities in the House and Senate in 1864. After Lincolns assassination Johnson repeatedly vetoed legislation forcing Republicans to over ride his veto. Johnson claimed that it didn't matter how he became President but that he was there and would rule as he saw fit. His over reach eventually led to the first ever Presidential impeachment. Obama has been crushed in two mid term elections and squeaked by re-election. I still believe voter fraud played a major role. Obama knows impeachment is off the table so there technically is no check to his powers. To him it doesn't matter how he got there or what the majority wants he is going to rule as he sees fit.

I think your history is slanted from the point of view of a union statist Republican congress who wrote the history to favor themselves.
The Republican congress were typical power hungry scoundrels and looters.
Obama is so much worse than Johnson there is absolutely no comparison. Johnson was a mediocre leader who was impeached by a power mad congress whose main policy was to justify the war by punishing southerners. The reconstruction period was looter heaven and the Republicans were the beneficiaries.
Obama is a traitor who thinks more of a foreign enemy than he does of the majority of the American people. There is no punishment too severe for Obama's acts.

Perhaps but Johnson went outside the Constitution when he tried to remove Secretary of War Stanton. Instead of working within the framework of the Constitution he attempted to expand his authority. The country has survived a number of terrible Presidents. Hope we survive this one.

    Three options come to mind:
O wants martial law before his term is out so he can retain power indefintely.
It could alternatively be a poor negotiating technique: pushing for more than you expect in order to get a better compromise position from spineless republicans.
Possibly also an attempt to distract attention and action from things like Obamacare that should be a high priority for repeal, not reform.

He has been a de facto dictator for years.

His democratic sycophants do whatever he wants. The republicans can't string a spine together to resist anything.

The O told congress they were irrelevant some time ago, and effectively he is correct.
