If you look at Al Gore and his climate change nonsense from their perspective, it may be the best looting scheme in the history of the world. For people like me who used to have a business in the industry he ruined, there are no words to describe how much I re-vile him.

Even the most modest energy saving ideas involve unimaginable amounts of money. All of them start out with the completely realistic idea of "what if . . ." followed by imagining what it would be like if we started with a clean slate and built everything to be more efficient.

Ironically, the market the environmentalist/socialists despise will make all their dreams happen, over time. As the CFL costs have come down, more people have adopted them, and the same will happen with LED lights, and eventually luminescent wall surfaces.Electric vehicles will eventually become the norm, but just not over night, gaining ground as the technology becomes more cost effective.

Every time government gets involved trying to speed things up, it institutionalizes solutions that become obsolete faster than the market improves them. Instead of becoming more creative and imaginative, government digs in its heels, and sometimes takes a step backward, as in trying to control the internet like 1930s utilities.

let's assume just for the sake of fun that this project will actually make society a better place. The 90 billion dollar price tag would be just the tip of the iceberg. Here in Charlotte North Carolina they decided to build a light rail line up and down a road called South Boulevard. The initial projected cost for this project was 80 million dollars, by the time we got to the end of it it was four hundred and forty million dollars. These people couldn't foorcast the price of a glass of lemonade if they were going to sell it at a lemonade stand.nevermind the fact that the transit line makes no money whatsoever and only survived because three quarters of every ticket cost is subsidized.never mind that a high proportion of the people riding it do not buy a ticket. They don't even have ticket takers. They just supposedly write you a ticket if they catch you in the ticketed area of the waiting area. should I even discuss the traffic jams that occur when this stupid train goes up and down the train line which crosses south Boulevard on two occasions. of course this sort of project is par for the course for Charlotte North Carolina. I was at an event at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte this week. Another boondoggle which is built with taxpayer funds and has lost money ever since they built it. recently the city buffaloed the banks that loaned them the money into forgiving the loan. I'll tell you without a doubt that they will still lose money even after the loans are gone. Of course even though the city was forgiven the loans the bank shareholders will get stuck with the bill. fail to pay the mortgage on your house and see if the bank forgives your loan and let you stay there, good luck. We're in the process now of building another light transit line from downtown to the university area. They haven't even broken ground in there already in a cost overrun.

We did the same thing in Phoenix except it cost billions and loses millions annually. So the politicians are doing the only sane thing in such a situation: they are going to extend the line. After all, it's not their money.

Portland's Light Rail project is a similar boondoggle - losing money whether or not people ride it. For it to break even, they would have to constantly run at 80% capacity.

      Re: evlwhtguy,

Sadly, I must correct you on one major thing, the amount they want to spend is 90 TRILLION, not billion. Using your twons experience on overruns, it would probably end up costing 900 TRILLION.

These cities were built over a period of 10 decades or more and amortized over that timeframe. Only morons like these two could even dream up such an absurd idea.

Or was it 1992? In any case he has been insane for a long long time. At least ever since he created the internet.

When I originally wrote the title to this thread, it was "Al Gore Has Gone Insane."
I stared at that for a couple of seconds, thought "hey, he's already displayed being insane" and added the modifier "completely."
Now I'm thinking I didn't modify his insanity enough.
Or I shoulda wrote, "Al Gore has gone from completely insane from stark raving bananas!"
To think this cuckoo clock won the popular vote when he ran for president.

a response to your last sentence allosaur and referring to a posting discussion yesterday, the fact that he won the popular vote is evidence and proof of the intelligence of the nation based upon the school system that is in place.

Fortunately the popular vote is still irrelevant to the election of President in the United States.

Although it is highly relevant to those seeking to make it the criteria to overturn the Electoral College check and balance that is one of the few shreds of republic left in this country.

Once that falls and we have the "pure democracy" the left dreams of, all Hell breaks loose. The label "pure democracy" is a self evident lie of course, but people don't understand that.

A pure democracy would afford all of us the opportunity to directly vote on every issue of consequence. Can anyone see THAT ever happening? Or at least any vote like that being taken or reported honestly?

Ya'all remember when they told al that what he wanted to do violated the laws of physics? Then Al changed courses and started trying to find out who made the law and working to get it changed.

That's the voting public paying attention. He couldn't even carry his own state. He made millions on fake climate crisis then comes up with another insane scheme. He wants us to spend trillions to eliminate cars while he jets around the world. When will voters start checking out a candidate's history before voting?

Your use of the present tense is confusing.

I maintain that Gore went batsh*t insane after the 2000 election, and has been growing steadily worse since.

I'm starting to believe that Al Sharpton is more honest than this creep - at least Sharpton tells companies that he wants X $million to go away and leaves them alone. This guy is into a global racket and just won't go away.

He said it! He looked a camera right in the eye and said it!

I always knew his looked-for future was one in which no person, save an LEO, an active-duty military person, or himself or one of his fellow members of the International Set, or their chauffeurs would even be let near a private automobile.

Because we know better than you. Because the environment is being destroyed. Because my "idea" is not just an idea, but a scientific fact, and it will fix the unknown problems of the environment.

These guys, just grab the limelight with sensationalist, technically unfounded plans to fix problems that may or may not be problems, in an untested manner without controls.

We need real engineers going to step up and develop compelling cases that these people of fools?

First of all gore cannot go where he already is.

second, if he is present at a economical conference that tells you that the economical conference is populated by people of equal insanity by virtue of the company they keep.

Al is insane but I am guessing this is serious. It starts a conversation in the direction these wack jobs want to go. Of course if Obama succeeds and radical Islamist groups get control of all the major cities we will all be riding camels soon.

that might be wishful thinking on the part f 0 but it simply is not going to happen. I am a great believer that the NRA crowd will step up and then there are numerous combat trained men in the country that would step up. and of course our police and military would also respond in kind. 0 may have done damage but ending freedom as we know it is simply not in the cards at the moment. I think we could have a one sided revolution. All on our side and all of the politicians who think other wise will go down with 0 and his people(are they people or missing links, missing links).

It would be interesting to search out all the congresspersons that voted for Barry and then correlate that with the ones that have voted for his ideas. Then put the results (if they show what I think they would) on Facebook.

I dont agree with Gore on anything. The mission impossible challenge (if you choose to accept it) is how to legally distract these loons so they do as little damage as possible. Perhaps he could solve the pollution from container ships "problem" as a followup to creating the internet.
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/a......
(Replacing all container ships with electric trains using undersea tunnels at a cost of $1,000 trillion does not qualify as a solution.)
