The premise of the article is that we have a population for the most part that "THINKS", and unfortunately the writer did not check his premises because we do not have a population that "THINKS", outside of those present on this web site. I go back to our disaster of a school system. There in lies the problem. From what I continue to observe about the youth of America they just don't care and have no idea how to fight this situation. There were lots of things wrong with the youth of America during the 60's but they had guts and spoke out about what they didn't like. I am sure their actions were a mitigating factor in getting us out of Vietnam. Who ever wins the minds of the youth of America will not have won much. They will have to feed and cloth them because they will not be productive.

We do not have a thinking population, that is exactly right and you can not make them think because then they would have to accept that of lot of what they want they should not have.

Nothing worthwhile or new here, just more Bircher types throwing around conspiracy theories and names like "CFR" and "Bilderbergers" as code for anti-Semitism. Let's not go there.

The way I get balanced news is to subscribe to every list I can stand to read, including extremists of both left and right -- mostly because I want to know what they're up to.

The battle has been over for a long time RMP. In military terms, the Socialists are doing mopping-up.operations, All they need do is rustle-up the stray doggies who insist on thinking for themselves or wait for we older ones to age out and die. The phrase fait accompli seems to fit.

I think that Bob Livingston gives too much credit to voters. He actually thinks that they are influenced by the media. Those folks are so idiotic that even the left media ha little influence on them. Those voters know that they are supposed to vote, so they do. Here is what they go by in selecting a candidate: hair style, understandable name, how he/she wears clothes and what kind of clothes they wear, their party affiliation, and finally, since they don't know one candidate from another, they just make a random selection. It's called the B.I.N. method of voting (Brain In Neutral).

Well, when everything the masses see shapes their perceptions in a singular direction, yes, I believe that one can make a good argument that the media influences the masses.

Right, the "media" is one big monolithic entity, and both Fox News and MSNBC (along with everything on the Internet) shapes the public's perceptions in a singular direction.

FNC is one of very few that isn't part of the cabal.

FNC is also the news channel with by far the highest ratings. So much for the public's perceptions being shaped in a singular direction.

As a singular cable entity. However, when looked at in comparison with all available media, they still are a minority. And if you count in all those that don't consume "news" but merely "entertainment media" such as Jon Stewart's show, and other YouTube media, then you get a much larger percent that are being manipulated by a similar perspective.

Drudge Report is the most popular Internet news aggregator. Talk radio is dominated by conservatives. I don't know which viewpoint is most popular on YouTube, but I expect most people getting their news from this source select viewpoints that are already compatible with their own.

Yes, Drudge is an aggregator, meaning that they only link to other news reports. Most of which are still left leaning. He does have a few items that are original, but mostly merely links to others.

I don't blame the folks, especially the young folks, for their voting tendencies. I do blame their teachers, particularly for their first vote for Obama.
But I must say I am tempted to declare that a second vote for Obama was "not merely mistaken, but evil". (Care to guess where in
Rand's corpus these words came from?)

Great Article, RMP. IMHO, one of the scariest but true lines is: "The need to conceal evil is becoming less necessary as the American people themselves continue to become more perverted."

I prefer my news with an attitude and that attitude is all mine. Truth is a fairy tale and it matters not which news media outlet you subscribe to. I used to believe there was three sides to every story, yours, mine and in the middle was the truth. Not any more! We can't handle the truth and quickly dismiss any who are truthful.

Most of us don not think. We think we think. Mostly, we follow along.

Thinking would require identifying a problem to solve or a goal to reach. As a nation, we can't even put an honest name to many of the problems we face, let alone begin thinking of solutions.

So, we watch the networks or our favorite news outlets, figure out what it means to us, and get ready to do it again tomorrow, if we still have a job to go to.

What they do in Washington has little to do with the center of the country, except on April 15, and election day. And, it's questionable if elections really matter all that much any more since the mainstream of both parties seem to want the same thing. Just as the Muslim terrorists and the peace loving practitioners of Islam both want Sharia, the Democrat and Republican mainstreams seem bent on a larger, more helpful government.

Government has whipped the free press with the all mighty dollar. When it is just better to be "Politically Correct" than to expose the facts we have lost the people's check on the government.

This article lost me early on. Terms such as "the people", "the establishment", "the media" and "the state" do little to explain today's political circumstances.

And I'm sure Obama and his supporters will be pleased to know that the 2014 election was a "sham".
