An Objectivist might say that it is their service and are free to manage it as they see fit and normally i would agree, However i don't in this particular situation.

The Linux OS faces a similar challenge, Essentially Netflix hasnt worked in the past on Linux until recently because of drm Silverlight (developed by Microsoft) compatibility, They even go out of their way to this day blocking the OS if you are trying to view a video page with a Linux OS forcing users to 'pretend' they are running windows to get around it, Obviously the demand for it is there for it, One wonders why they go out of their way to enforce it?

In the last couple of years, users have developed workarounds using windows libraries, Such as silverlight, running on Linux but you still have to pretend you are running windows. More recently Netflix has allowed Google chrome to use Netflix using html5 drm which runs natively in Linux as well as many other browsers such as Mozilla Firefox but they still block you if you are not running their choice of platform, In this case, Google Chrome. One wonders if Netflix is purposely (and privately) discriminating against those who do don't pay a fee. Which is ironic considering what top internet service providers have recently tried to extort from Netflix and they initially fought this.

I have nothing against Netflix for not caring to support Linux or platforms it sees as not worth the effort but i DO have a problem when they purposely go out of their way in preventing me, as a customer, from using their service in a way i choose after having paid for it. It is the same as going out and buying a car but being told where i can drive.

If they don't want your business, then go elsewhere:
USe XBMC or Kodi software in Linux for entertainment.

you listed tools, not the media content - the purpose of the service.

the issue is not whether they want my business, obviously they do - until i use the platform of my choice which on their end affects nothing. the issue is in me being able to watch said content by my choosing. it makes sense if they have licenses to follow or copyright protection to keep but as stated this is just not the case. it defies all logical reasoning. i simply find this objectionable.

that said, after having rethought it a bit some light work on their part may need to be done to natively support linux themselves and i could at the very least understand if that was the case, it is only when they purposely block me i have a problem.

XBMC/Kodi does supply access to content, so in one respect they are competing with Netflix. I don't use it, but I know someone who does and there is a source in the program that uses a netflix-lookalike logo. It may be a way to get the content you are looking for. I have used it for sporting events available OTA that also stream online. I have no TV.

Thats what looters do when they are out competed by superior products.

Heck, even windows phone is kicking their butts, you can't go any further behind than last.

Their real downfall was fubaring up their OS to support the stupid tablet

BlackBerry CEO Chen has been quoted elsewhere as calling for this under the slogan of "net neutrality", for which he has been criticized by the proponents of government enforced "net neutrality" (net egalitarianism) for distorting their principle. The irony is that Chen is right in how he invokes their own premise. It didn't take long for someone to show the next consequences.
