I heard this on Rush today while running errands.. I almost laughed which quickly turned to almost crying. These are heads of schools who thinks this is some how an actual possible solution to a terrorist entering a school campus. This is a new level of blank out....and a dangerous way to think, and an empty thing to teach kids. Completely USELESS.

Furthermore as a Teacher I can immediately state that those canned goods will be put away to avoid them being in the way. Which immediately renders them inaccessible for the use that they were intended for.

But heck it gives those too stupid to actually accept actual forms of protection a warm fuzzy for their efforts in protecting the children.

Who was the genius at the school bored meeting that said " I know how to defend the school from a shooter! chuck cans at him!" And everyone applauds and pats him on the back
Proudly produced by common core education!

Apparently there's some organization who's selling this shit to pub ed... and they have practices too... can throwing practice. These people are out of their minds and have ZERO concept of weapons and what they can be made to do when controlled by an evil person who has practiced their plan. This is just another way a gov entity portrays false security in the name of empowerment. I can't believe the parents aren't in an uproar and pulling their kids out of there... I hate to say this, but both the Principal and Vice Principal are female.

This must have been a tremendous compromise on the liberals' parts. After all, they consider all non-fresh food to be evil. Canned goods would then be by definition packaged evil and they are asking people to bring it into their precious schools.

I heard that on the radio yesterday - Tom Sullivan was talking about it, I thought it was a joke. That's not 'bringing a knife to a gun fight' - that's bring a can of chicken noodle to a gun fight...

God help us! What's Queen Michelle going to say when she finds out that the contents of these weapons don't meet the standards for "healthy schools" ? Somebody's going to get canned!

And notice that the school plans to donate the unused can to a food pantry at the end of the year. Presumably, thy're planning on collecting new canned food the following year. Allah forbid that they use expired canned food against a terrorist!

Well, it depends on the type of food. Canned pork would work best... By the way, are they allowing now "open food carry?"

Should that be OCC - Open Can Carry?

I dune know... That could lead to too much empowerment for the kids. In 20 or 40 years, when they graduate, they may question the government's policies or even refuse to march in government-organized protests... Too dangerous!

BTW, in the Soviet Union prior to WWII, the popular saying was that Germany could not possibly attack the SU because there are so many Russians that they they would just throw their hats at the Germans and that would be enough to burry them. I believe that the Soviet production of uniforms closely matched the number killed...

What? What happened to the scissors and pencils defense weapons they were teaching the kids to use recently? I kind of like the "Bucket of Marbles" idea as a deterrent to bad guys. I can see a whole new industry springing up, food can holsters, food can shoulder holsters. And the government could get in on the action by charging a fee (tax) for a "Concealed Can Permit".

A few more things to ponder: Would we have demonstrations against police that used a food can against a criminal not having one of equal caliber? And would convenience stores be considered arms dealers? Would minors be allowed to buy canned food? I think we need to think this over, too many new regulations might have to go into effect. Would these regulations be enforced by ATF or the Department of Agriculture?

OMG. I can't believe they expect kids to stand up to what most likely would be an armed crazy person, with canned goods... This is INSANE! REALLY??? How about actual trained, armed personnel, like we have in my town.. I think that's a bit more effective. Unless there's a portcullis and murder holes to dump hot pitch on the baddies. Then there might be a chance...

I heard that on Rush LImbaugh's show! I got a good laugh out of it... and it was honestly ridiculous enough for this current day and age that I COULD believe it! I think it would draw more attention to the child/person to become more of a victim. Unless they have a VERY good aim ;)
