I'm interested that so many negative comments are about "the love story". I see the relationships between Dagny and Frisco, Rearden and Galt as a form of shorthand for the essential points of the books AND the philosophy. Those characters are the best. They exemplify everything that Rand valued and said was right to value. She also said "Tell me what a man finds sexually attractive and I will tell you his entire philosophy of life. She me the woman he sleeps with and I will tell you his valuation of himself."
If John and Dagny find each other, and have a love story, each loves the best qualities of a human being, illustrated in a person. You can't have the book without love: of a sunlight-bright metal being poured into molds; of THAT particular run of notes on a piano, of the life itself that Ragnar risks......yeah, it's a love story.

I'm a huge fan of AS the book and I did enjoy the first 2 movies though I thought the second wasn't as good as the 1st but the 3rd movie that I just finished watching was just awful. Now I know what I can use as a cure for insomnia. So so very sad that the screenwriter/producers could only come up with a lame love story for the culmination of the Strike ! Hope one day someone actually does this book justice.

I got mine yesterday, and even seen it with my mother, since we had both seen the first two together. She liked the cast of the third one. I only liked the casting of John Galt, but not the recast of Dagny Taggert. Also, I figured that there would be cameos by the same actors who Galt had taken (for instance, Graham Beckel who played Ellis Wyatt in AS1) since many of them only had minimal screen time.

Just watched Part I and II , liked both but change in actors took away from the movie, Part III I'll have to get but looks like most people didn't like it , I want to finish it out though, I'll reserve judgement till I see it

Does anyone know what differences exist between the AS Store version of the DVDs and the 20th Century Fox retail versions from Amazon and WalMart?

I just bought part 3 from the AS store, but if I need an extra set, I'd like to look at the other, single disc, set.

Also, I won't buy mine from Amazon (actually, I no longer buy anything from Amazon), ever since they decided to back the gay marriage initiative in Washington state. A citizen's initiative is fine, but it needs to be decided by citizens, without financial backing from billionaires (Bill Gates) and companies like Amazon.

I thought the first film decent, the second was the best of the three, and the 3rd was just embarrassing.

I did not think the third felt at all like the book. It was more of a sappy love story between Galt and a teenager that was called Dagny. Any meat that was in the third installment only existed in cometary.

I still bought it anyway.

The one positive I had on the last movie was I thought they handled Gults speech very well. It was short, understandable by the average viewer and got to the point.

If the 1st had been as moderate as the last I do not think we would have had part 2 or part 3 but as it is, I would still recommend owning all three. They do open minds for discussion that will often lead to others reading the book. That makes them have enough value to me to part with the asking price to buy them.

I got the set for my brother for Xmas. Movie 3 just arrived yesterday.

No idea, why it couldn't have been released shortly after I got my member copy a month ago...before Xmas!

This a Christmas gift a certain brother will likely give me a year from now unless he surprises me with more than the usual birthday card mailed in March.
Why this DVD wasn't out before last Christmas is a mystery for a lost $$$ opportunity to me.

Atlas Shrugged part 3 is absolutely the worst directed, worst acted film I have ever seen. I was so disappointed that Ayn Rand's brilliantly conceived epic was turned into such mush by what seemed to be amateurs in acting, directing , editing, cinematography, special effects and on and on. Dagny Taggart as a skinny little post teen, John Galt a 3rd rate actor with 70's bad hair and it just gets worse. Shamefully pathetic in so many ways. It is almost criminal what they did to Ayn Rand's story. Someone please do it over and get it right this time, please.
