Gun Control for mental patients "shot down" by Federal Courts

Please note that the restrictions on gun ownership for legitimately mental patients was not overturned. What the courts struck down was this man's inability to be declared competent by the powers that be because there existed no federally-recognized arbitrator. In other words, he was being denied due process and as a result, his Second Amendment rights were being unjustly curtailed.

    Location! Location!
Someone crazy enough to name himself after a dinosaur once went to a gun show in Alabama.
All he needed to buy an AR-15 was a handful of cash.
He held it by its rear sights like a briefcase all the long walk back to his car in downtown Birmingham.
    Look folks! I'm a businessman!
    Woo!-woo!-woo!
That was my Curly the Stooge impression,

I did some work in Birmingham a few years back, ended up spending a Saturday in the Talladega National Forest, and was thinking that deer season there must be great - there was sign everywhere. I liked Birmingham, too.

In spite of the nuttiness that's taken us over here in Colorado, I can still go into a store and buy an AR-15 with nothing more than the Federal 4473 - and while state law says I have to submit to a background check if I buy a gun from a neighbor, I can tell you that law is being roundly ignored.

Mrs. Animal and I are still looking for property in Alaska, though. Our personal Gulch will be somewhere in the Kenai Peninsula.
