Live discussion during Obama's declaration of amnesty for illegals
As much as the Emperor-in-Chief has done to ruin this country, tonight is likely to take the cake. We will have a live reaction to an "executive action" that ought to be in AS: Now Non-Fiction.
O'amnesty is a direct middle finger to those of us who followed the law and subjected ourselves to the invasive process, background checks and government fees required to become a legal immigrant. This plan just gave fast lane access to living here illegally - legitimizing criminal behavior at the expense of citizens and legal immigrants alike.
With the rise of UKIP back in Britain and fall of the labour party, the grass really is suddenly looking greener over there (and not just because of all the rain). Too bad the US is the only country on earth that taxes it's ex-pats no matter where they live.
If Holder hadn’t released a bunch of illegal criminals, if Obama’s dreamer executive stunt hadn’t caused the flooding at our borders, he almost would be believable, but he lost me when he said his actions would not apply to those who come illegally in the future.
Who they heck does he think he is offering this to? He is offering it to those who came after Reagan and Bush said the same dang thing!
AAArrggghhh. He is driving me nuts. I’m going to sign-off before I think or write something NSA worthy!
Obama has earned the derision you read on this list. And did you not think that khalling or one of the other folks here would not check your assertions?

The System was designed for gridlock.
The system was not Broken.
It's broken now.
Long live the Sheeple!
Who Is John Galt?
"We're from the government and we're here to help."
Sure, we could, and probably should rework the laws and streamline the process for legal immigration, but that does not grant our POTUS imperial powers. He is sworn to uphold the laws, not rewrite them, ignore them...
This will only encourage more illegal immigration, lying about time here and multiply the forged papers. Why are we granting citizenship to someone born here when both parents are foreign nationals? How many other nations do this?
The precedent: I wonder how he and his sycophants would feel about a Republican or Independent President deciding not to enforce IRS tax collection/audits on the 1%...
Truly Imperial. Stick a fork in this "Republic." It is done... :(
I was seriously hoping that I would hear,
"This is John Galt speaking!"

"You may stay in this country temporarily without fear of deportation."
That statement struck me as very contradictory, since I do believe they all want to stay here permanently.
Oh, well, the royal pain was moving his lips again.
.
I would like to know where he has been on the issue of immigration for the last 50 years. The rule of law has not been followed and kings have granted amnesty before. Certifiably not the first time.
While not the same subject matter (so perhaps not in line with the words, but with the thoughts of my post) this is not the first time a president has done through executive decree what should require a congressional vote to get done.
I also do not see much difference if the President ignores the law or congress does it. Both are ill legal unless they change the law. President Reagan did not get the law changed, he simply got congress to agree to pay no attention to the law.
If its the president or the president and congress that choose to ignore the law its still the same. We need to change the law or live by it. I think immigration law needs major changes, not to be bypassed once again.
I don't have the answer, but we can't keep looking the other way. We have possibly >10 million people here illegally. If we're going to have rules about who comes here, we need to enforce it. After decades of ignoring the problem, do we start a massive project to catch and jail millions and anyone who knew or should have known they were hiring them or abetting them in some other way? Maybe that should be part of it. It seems to me, though, we should put our efforts into preventing the problem and doing some sort of amnesty and path to a work visa for all the people who have hired illegal labor and for the undocumented workers caught up in it.
A few years ago we didn't hire our first-choice nanny because she said she couldn't be documented. She offered to work extra if we would just pay her under the table. It turned out she was legally here with her husband who was in school but not allowed to work. Imagine that. We want people to work, yet we have spouses of students who are allowed to be here but can't work. Many people told us going Zoe Baird is the standard way to hire nannies. Our attorney and accountant told us that's often true, but it doesn't make it legal. We ended up paying more, having to do the usual payroll hassles of SUTA, 941, WT-6/7, and W-2/3s that we do for people at work. I have no high regard for those who took the easy route. But we desperately need steps, even upsetting steps, to get to a place where we have rules about who can be/work here and we follow them.
