I know you are not a big Floyd fan. Have you heard a new album is about to be released. It is the first in twenty? years? I am a fan generally. I really liked the last few. The deep cuts on- A Momentary Lapse of Reason (that title...somehow fitting our recent electorate) and- The Division Bell... (a title that also has meaning)... all good... Well. I like them anyway.
In other news: There has been some new rumors regarding a Zeppelin reunion, but it is being called "rubbish" by Plant's publicist. http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/10/showbiz/mu...
I like the Plant song. I don't know why I don't like Pink Floyd. The drummer in our band loves them and he wants to do a bunch of their stuff. I say no, I'm not interested, I'm not getting paid so I'm not playing stuff I don't like.
You are not alone. I know quite a few that feel as you do. Tastes vary. I was at a show last Saturday night. There was an extraordinary guitar player. He was jamming some blues songs like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SP5JHLqX... He rocked some old Chuck Berry and B.B. King etc... I was digging it, but several of the ladies in our group said they couldn't dance to it and wanted to go to another club... I bought another round... :)
It gets old doesn't it. We're starting to do some different stuff with the band. Stuff that not all the other bands in the area are playing. If our keys player and drummer get ever get this one right I'll being smiling. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYDAF6Nb...
I think I failed to communicate clearly ~ my bad. Regarding The Wall, I like few choice songs, but for albums, I like the entire WYWH and the unnecessarily long titled album from '87. Obscured By Clouds is good too. I really don't like "Animals", or The Final Cut. However, "Not Now John" really rocks. But the rest can get deleted. Just my .02
Not at all. I was too brief. Who'd of thought... :) My exclamation marks were an affirmation for our mutual appreciation. :) I do like the "Animals' album, but it does not score as highly and "The Final Cut" only gets slightly more play than "The Piper..." and that isn't much. I agree about "Not Now John" it is not the dirge so much of the rest of the album is. How about "The Division Bell" 1994? I like "Keep Talking', ...the guitar work in "Coming Back To Life."
The Division Bell is ok. Better than the final cut, but didn't make my favorites list. I was fortunate enough to have watch PF play in '88 in Pittsburgh (was a high school junior at the time) and again in '94 in Ames, Iowa. Good times.
Indeed. Saw them twice myself. 1st time, nose bleed seats at the Pontiac Silverdome. 2nd time, paid through the nose for main floor 15 rows back. Possibly around the same years as you, though my high school years were far, far behind me. Yes, Good times!
lol I don't know but it does seem like around 9pm my time everyone disappears. Just when I'm usually getting geared up for some gulch time. I keep weird hours. hoot hoot.
As I hear some Pink Floyd music playing in the background. There have been a couple of Saturdays at 6 AM Eastern time when I have been the only member, too.
...it's just a dream, LS. :D
just nod if you can hear me
is there anyone at home?
