And to think Obama's going all in on solar was the final blow for my biofuels business. I told everyone who was there at the time (and the ten of us at dinner last night that the return on investment for solar panels was 90 years if unsubsidized). The new British boyfriend of one of my wife's friends was trying to convince people of the return on investment of solar power in the UK (about 8-10 years when subsidized by the taxpayers). It was definitely a time to tell the AS story, so I did (in part).

Biodiesel is right there, works just fine and is almost straight-up competitive at $4/gal for diesel. It is almost carbon neutral (if you care about such things)...It just doesn't sound as cool as solar to the non-technical green zealots.

Step four--acquire donation from California leftist billionaire. Step five--get Streisand to sing at celebrity $25,000 a plate gala. Step six--market "save the birds" paraphernalia. Step seven--get Michael Moore to make film about Tea Party bird haters. Step eight--appear on MSNBC to tout new book on plan to save birds and reduce climate change through sale of "bird credits" similar to carbon credits sold by Al Gore's company. Step nine--open save the birds office on K-Street and staff with lobbyists. Step ten--expand to Europe and Asia. Step eleven--media blitz on our save the birds efforts. Step twelve--buy Carribean island "bird sanctuary" and retire.

It is like a flim-flam man who has a perpetual motion machine to sell and the only entity stupid enough to buy it is the government. Somebody else's money...
