Oh this is rich. A peaceful protest, drunk, and armed with what she doesn't want her constituents to have. Nice upstanding citizen, pandering to a populace looking to blame a white cop for shooting an upstanding young man, when evidence is stacking up against that theory.

Hypocrisy is a requirement for anyone wanting to be a politician. In my observation; the louder they speak out against something, the more likely they actually support it and vice versa. Double-speak, double-think...1984 is a guide for them. This applies to both the Dem party and the Repubs: the only real difference between them is the speed at which the country is to be destroyed. Dem's want it destroyed now, and repub's like to take it slow ~ but the end result is the same.

      So true.

If they do not pack the gun (Rosie O'Donnell for example) they have armed body guards that go everywhere with them. She wants only the rich who can have a trained arm body guard to have protection but the rest of us are SOL.

Yep. And really, drunk and armed, in my world is a HUGE no-no! And she had better clam up on disarming her constituents, because she will never be able to stand on that soapbox again... Rotten tomatoes, anyone?

"Do as I say, not as I do."

    "Rank has its privileges."

That's about the size of it.

Yes, comrade citizens, rank has its privileges when you an esteemed Animal Farm more than equal elite better entrusted with such authority by the collective. Especially due to her being mentally impaired for drunk, her excellency needed that gun to protect herself (with extra rounds for a full blown fire fight) far more than we commoners dare deserve.
And the Ferguson police should have let her excellency own that street in front of their station. After all, they did not build it.

It's baffling. She was doing something to get arrested for a protest, which I understand. I don't understand doing it with a loaded gun, esp if she's supported anti-gun laws. I wonder if she has mental illness.

Like you, I think that this does not add up. From the description, it seems evident that she was trying to get arrested. But getting arrested carrying a gun cannot be expected to put her in a favorable light to her constituents.

'Hypocrisy' is not an adequate explanation, because within the constraints of her mindset her actions still need to add up to 'logical' (albeit not necessarily 'rational'). She cannot have been carrying because she was drunk, because she would have had to have the gun before she was intoxicated.

My spidy sense says that we do not understand this story.

I think she was not trying to get arrested when she set out to protest. I think she thought she 'd whip up some gravitas with her base. She most likely was drinking before she left home - the photos show her in her lounging around the house track suit. :) Hypocrisy seems the only explanation. She doesn 't deny her gun ownership but wants to deny it for law abiding missourians.

Maybe you are correct. I try to remind myself "Do not attribute to [esoteric explanations] that which can be accounted for by stupidity." (Of course, the brackets generally contain 'malice'.)

I just have a hard time believing that someone could be stupid enough to pack a gun without a carry permit, get drunk, and obstruct the law in the middle of the street and have it turn our alright for anti-gun proponency.

          Sigh.

I suspect she has mental illness, not the kind where she believes illogical things but the kind where she's detached from reality or hears voices. It's rare, but it happens to people, including state-level elected officials.

            CircuitGuy, Technocracy, khalling -

You guys are probably right, but I still have a hard time believing it. And it does score a mark against being able to use reason to understand the world. It reminds me again that while reason is the best yardstick to use, it too can fail.

            Big sigh again.
