I can only guess at what she might have meant. Maybe there was context before it where she was refuting an argument that misused the fact business creates jobs. If we take her quote at face value it's absurd. It _sounds_ like she's been in govt too long and doesn't give much thought to the hard work behind tax revenues.

It seems nobody learned from that and "here we are again". I believe, much to our chagrin, that HC will be our next president. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are about 156 million people working in the United States. From federal employees all the way down to local police and firefighters, I have seen estimates that as many as 40 million people work for the government.

Obviously, government-pumped economies work well, just look at the business environment around the Beltway... What Recession? was kind of the mantra since 2007... But the further away you move, and with a noticeable effect about 20 miles out and farther, it has less and less of an effect. By the time you hit West Virginia, you might as well be in Kansas for all the impact it has.

These people need to get out more and talk to people other than the ones that paid $1500 / plate to snap a selfie with them from 150 feet away.
