On Saturday September 13th I rented out the Majestic Theatre in Brookfield WI for a client Appreciation event for clients of my financial services firm. The message and tie into the economy proved quite appropriate. Also attending were some liberal clients, some members of the local republican party as well as a group that meets to study philosophy. We had in total 121 reservations and 107 people who actually attended who might otherwise not be exposed to the movie trilogy or Ayn Rand. I received several emails this week from clients wanting more information or who are buying the book. David Kelley's review of some of the scenes on his Atlas Society website proved helpful for those wanting more information. I had fun designing a menu with food items named after the characters in the film and I have included a brief list for you to see. No hot dogs were available at the theatre to serve up anti dog eat dog hot dogs but we did offer free moochers and looters popcorn, free soda fountainhead head drinks Cuffy Meigs BBQ pulled pork, Wesley Mouch chicken fingers a Head of state Thompson Caesar salad and the John Galt Big Boy Burger among others to add some fun. I utilized the quotes that appeared on the Facebook site into a PowerPoint presentation that was shown as people arrived and again during a 15 minute intermission. This was actually a double header event that included showing the documentary Ayn Rand and the Prophecy of Atlas Shrugged to start the event. This proved extremely helpful in giving people not familiar with the AS/Rand history greater appreciation for viewing the film and the journey it has taken to get the films made. While the quotes were showing I made comments to the crowd about Rand's life and offered her views on selfishness so no misinterpretations would occur. Two years ago I had shown part II with many fantastic reviews from my clients. As a result of that event I had signed up for the Gutch in order to get updates on the Part III production giving me the fantastic opportunity to get read many of the posts from so many like-minded and committed people that I was truly inspired.
