Good find AJ. Thanks. A timely article. It amazes me how they continually say 'for the public good' and it never is.

I have been doing my research for the last week and I am going to enroll in one of these career colleges and get a certification in small engine repair, and I was thinking of small appliance repair after that. Both very useful skills.

The trades skills schools have been an honorable part of the education array for a very long time.
The private "for profit" colleges are somewhat newer to the scene. They have developed a notorious reputation for taking advantage of those more vulnerable populations. They have a notorious reputation for being more expensive than the traditional colleges. Some of them have been prosecuted over financial irregularities.
this article and the FACT BOOK" are out of a questionable "private" foundation

My university is not a for-profit, nor is it a "career college". Florida Tech is a private university geared toward scientists and engineers. We have definitely seen an effect of Obama's nationalization of all student loans under Sallie Mae. They are trying to use this as a backdoor tool to control us by saying that, if our students don't pay back their loan debt, that the government will come after us to collect it.

What?!? How do they justify the students loan obligation falling on the institution for repayment?

They don't need any justification for their 3rd World dictatorship behavior.
Nonetheless schools like mine are accused of having tuition rates that are "too high".
This should be read as saying "not state-subsidized" and/or "The tuition rates reflect the true cost of college."

The government is also putting the burden on us to make sure that our students have a reasonable chance of repaying their college loan debt. This is the one part of the new burden that I might actually agree with.
