I heard AS mentioned here and there over the years, one day I researched it and then ordered it and then DEVOURED it. So I guess you could say, it is where my journey in life led me. Unfortunately, and to my great disappointment, getting others to read it is quite a task. :( But it is the best book I've ever read...and I've read some great books! :)
By the way Mellis...your name reminds me of another one of my favorite books... Do you know which one??? :)

every now and again people in here will post that question. Such a profound book is often given as a gift. I think it's essential to my well being to expose people to Objectivism and AS is a great place to start. welcome to the Gulch!

I bought the book myself. No one told me to read it. I had heard about it (nothing beyond that it was good) and was curious.

I heard about it in the 70's but didn't get around to reading it until last year. Downloaded it on Kindle. I must have highlighted 300 pages!

I bought the 35th Anniversary edition at Barnes & Noble...along with George Orwell's "1984". Both are superb books if you want to know what The Left has in store if they have complete control.

I initially read the book in high school during my senior year for a book report. Needless to say, I did not really grasp its message. I bought a hard copy last year from a bookstore on the internet, and read it again, this time comprehending its content and message more thoroughly.

I pulled money from my pocket and paid the bookseller for it. In 1971.
