My son discovered this awhile back. Sounded so interesting to us. What do you think?

I looked into this place several months ago, but couldn't get answers to most of my questions. I just read on Fox News about an abandoned mining town in Canada (B.C) that's for sale for approx 907k U.S.
It has buildings and roads, but needs real work. My concern with this is the same as all of the sites I've found that could be utilized. Without sovereignty or undetectability, we'd just be food for the moochers when they realize they need what we have (and who we are). I continue to work this from every angle in my head. I've got desire, intellect, skill and capital. Those aren't enough against the guns of the state if they know who and where you are. I'm frustrating myself with this obstacle I have not yet solved. Any ideas???

This is something I have thinking about for the last 50 years since I first read Atlas Shrugged. The possibilities become less and less. It sounds like you have been seriously researching the problem along with several others in the Gulch. Other than a good sized island far from the crazies, no place seems to be really secure. We need a Ragnar to search for that island!

This just occurred to me. (I'm sad to admit it took this long):
Maybe the option that would best work is to "hide in plain sight".
Assemble the individuals who would be involved and strategically relocate to a single city. We continue on as long as necessary in the irratitional culture we oppose. We do this while regularly working together on various projects to facilitate our success through the impending dystopia and subsequent rebuild. That could be possible. Like I said, this just occurred to me. Now I'll obsess over the details for a while and look for flaws, pitfalls, and solutions. All input is welcome

interesting. The problem is that the other people you want to avoid are there. Arguing with you about bus service, CCW rules, speed limits, etc, etc - and don't forget to add the feds! I like the idea of buying a town, but it's so....anchored.
Keep us posted on your thoughts.

It may be the best possibility I have seen so far. I went to their web site and have asked a few questions regarding smaller sites for non-farmers, a business incubator, and either condos or a hotel/resort building for non-agrarians.

Good questions. My son is planning an exploratory trip to the area in the near future. My family is nowhere near the income bracket that is required for the properties we have seen. But we are still the ones that would be of benefit in small ways!
