I ALWAYS find myself smiling.........

I have noticed that every single time I visit the Gulch, I always have a smile on my face by the time I leave, and very often a few chuckles or an outright laugh.
When I noticed this, it made me think. After all, there is probably not a group of people anywhere that is more aware of the sad things happening in our country and our culture. We are also very cognizant of how things should and could be, and this could be a reason to be hopeless and sad.
Then it dawned on me that the people in the Gulch have a vibrant sense of life that permeates every comment and post. This is the sense of life that Ayn Rand described and celebrated.
And that is what makes this Gulch so very special and essential to me, and I want to thank each and every one of you for the smile I always have when I visit the Gulch!

    Mamaemma,
No matter how they try, they can never take your sense of humor!

"The new employee stood before the paper shredder looking confused.
"Need some help?" a secretary asked.
"Yes," he replied. "How does this thing work?"
"Simple," she said, taking the fat report from his hand and feeding it into the shredder.
"Thanks, but where do the copies come out?"

    :)

It is definitely healing. Now seems like the perfect time to spend some Amazon gift cards on Objectivist books, too. ;)

I am in complete agreement with Mamaemma on this. My boyfriend broke up with me on Thursday, and the first thing I did was jump into the Gulch. By the time I left, I was roaring with laughter and reminded of the greatness that lies in my existence.

How anyone could live a humorless life is beyond me. But there is more to Mommaemma's smile. It is being surrounded by the sense of life she finds in the Gulch. She is surrounded by the idea people, the productive people, and the people who understand that life is to do, not to be done for you. They understand that it doesn't mean you can't give a helping hand, or be willing to put yourself in jeopardy for someone you love.

Thanks for sharing the positive experience! And reminding us to maintain that positive sense of life. It's important for us to remember that we have the power to choose our philosophy and attitude towards life. I'm happy I found a large number of like-minded people here too! Thanks for being here and speaking out.
Here are 12 of my favorite quotes that inspire and help me to maintain a vibrant and heroic sense of life. I hope they bring another smile to your face: http://buildingabrandonline.com/engin...

"people in the Gulch have a vibrant sense of life"
That's probably the best one-line description of what I think the books are about.
